“I have stretched my aching body across the world.” Here we go! The Toronto Film Festival has announced a surprise last-minute addition to the line-up this year: Zack Snyder’s new film The Last Photograph. There were rumors earlier in the year that this might show up in Cannes, but it looks like TIFF is the place for it. After making his two Rebel Moon movies, Snyder went out and shot this film on the down low. It was filmed across Iceland, Colombia, and Los Angeles throughout 2025 – with Snyder himself working as the cinematographer. An ex-DEA agent searches South American mountains for his murdered diplomat siblings’ children, aided by a junkie photographer who is the only one who saw the killers, confronting past demons as reality blurs in remote wilderness. “Their journey into the unknown takes them further and further away from civilization, bringing into question everything they believe…” Starring Stuart Martin & Fra Fee as Ethan & Joe, with Costanza Andrade, Marlon Moreno, Quique Mendoza, Pedro Calvo-Anca, Ed Hughes, Mia Calvo, Gustavo Angarita, Jackie Kay, José Restrepo. With a score by Hans Zimmer, Omer Benyamin, Steven Doar. This is a full trailer posted by TIFF now that it’s officially confirmed as part of the TIFF 2026 festival line-up – premiering in September up in Toronto. Snyder is also still looking for a distributor for this movie.
Here’s the first festival trailer for Zack Snyder’s film The Last Photograph, from TIFF’s YouTube:

Intro from TIFF: “An ex-DEA operative must return to the mountains of South America in an effort to find his missing niece and nephew, following the brutal murders of their diplomat parents. Enlisting the help of a washed-up junkie war photographer – the only person to have seen the face of the killers – he sets out, determined to find the children and the truth, but soon learns he must also face the ghosts of his past. Their journey into the unknown takes them further and further away from any civilization, bringing into question everything they believe, while slowly eroding the distinction between real and surreal.” The Last Photograph is directed by American producer / filmmaker Zack Snyder, director of the movies Dawn of the Dead, 300, Watchmen, Sucker Punch, Man of Steel, Warner Bros’ Justice League and Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Army of the Dead, and the two Rebel Moon movies previously. The screenplay is written by Kurt Johnstad (300, Act of Valor, 300: Rise of an Empire, Rebel Moon) from a story by Zack Snyder. It’s produced by Wesley Coller, Gianni Nunnari, Deborah Snyder & Zack Snyder. This is premiering first at the 2026 Toronto Film Festival this fall. No other US release date is set yet – stay tuned for updates. Any good?
