“These clowns aren’t here to make balloon animals.” 🤡 Hulu has revealed the first official trailer for a new documentary film titled Clown Panic, a fascinating Huluween doc about the rise in creepy clown sightings. This is one of those streaming docs where they turn any old backwater story in a full-on 90+ minute look at how weird and wild and crazy people are out there. Especially when there’s clown sightings. Starting around 2016, South Carolina children started spotting clowns in woods. Reports spread across America, causing lockdowns and police investigations and more craziness. Using archival content, and interviews, examines how fear and social media transformed a strange myth into hysteria. The film has interviews with witnesses, law enforcement, clowns and cultural commentators and unpacks how a how a bizarre urban legend could spiral into a national moral panic. So was this the Satanic Panic of the late 2010s or something else even stranger? This guy: “I mean, I don’t know any clowns that wanna go and kill a bunch of kids. I mean, that’s your customers!” Indeed it is… This all looks so weird, but it might just be wacky enough to enjoy watching.
