Fans still upset streamer filmed Penta unmasked, but WWE doesn’t seem to care

Last month, the popular streamer N3on broke a sacred rule of Lucha Libre when he accidentally filmed Penta without his mask.

The controversial moment occurred when N3on was streaming on Kick live backstage during Fanatics Fest in New York City. At one point, his camera briefly captured Penta, who was wearing his trademark partial face paint, but his mask could be seen on a nearby table. Though Penta asked N3on to delete the recording, the stream was live for viewers and clips were quickly shared on social media.

Despite the incident causing a massive backlash against N3on from wrestling fans, WWE seemingly gave him a pass since he recently streamed a hang-out with Tiffany Stratton.

While it’s unclear if Tiffy got the green light from WWE to be filmed with N3on, a telling moment came during the stream when she received a text from WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Relations Chris Legentil.

Stratton referred to Legentil as her “boss,” and she said he wrote to her: “Where did you find N3on?”

N3on seemed apprehensive upon hearing the message, but Tiffany assured him it was “good, it’s fine.”

One thing that’s clear, though, is that while the bosses at WWE may have forgiven N3on for the Penta incident, a lot of fans haven’t. This notion was reflected by comments on X (Twitter) when various moments from the Stratton interview were shared, such as one wrestling fan who referred to N3on as “that bastard who recorded Penta without his mask.”

N3on himself has since acknowledged that WWE fans “hate” him for the incident, all the while deflecting blame for what occurred.

On Tuesday (August 18), he sat down for Bradley Martyn’s Raw Talk podcast, and he opened up about the fallout from inadvertently filming a maskless Penta.

“I think they hate me,” N3on said of WWE fans.

”Do they hate you for real?” Martyn asked.

“Yeah. There was a situation where I was at Fanatics and someone’s face came on the camera that wasn’t supposed to be there,” N3on said. “It wasn’t my fault, and I had no bad intention. They told him he could take his mask off.”

N3on then soon blamed the Fanatics Fest staff for the incident.

He said, “No one was in the wrong. Well, the people working there were in the wrong. Whatever. The second I found it, I deleted whatever I could but it was already clipped. After that, they [the fans] don’t like me. The audience thinks I did it on purpose.”

What do you think, Cagesiders? Have you forgiven N3on for filming Penta without his mask? Should WWE forgive him? Let us know in the comments.
