It was just a number of days ago that reports made the rounds confirming rumors that former IWGP Heavyweight champion EVIL had signed a deal with WWE. The word at the time was he wanted to start his run in the developmental brand, NXT.
Sure enough, that’s what he’ll be doing, as we saw on this week’s episode of NXT television:

EVIL is expected to use a different name under the WWE banner, but they weren’t shy about referencing his past name and history in New Japan Pro Wrestling. He didn’t say anything, instead delivering another gift to NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo, a “gift of pure EVIL,” as commentary put it. The message seemed clear enough, that he’s here and already has his eyes on the top name still left on the brand after it was pillaged by the main roster.
A true reset has come to NXT.
We’ll see how the 39-year-old works out in his new digs.
Like the debut?
