Ellen Pompeo is looking to scrub up again — but this time, not as Dr. Meredith Grey.
The “Grey’s Anatomy” star is attached to lead a drama series in development at Hulu from “Big Little Lies” and “Boston Legal” creator David E. Kelley.
Titled “Not a Sound,” the project is based on Heather Gudenkauf’s novel of the same name. It follows a disgraced ER nurse, Amelia Winn, who loses her hearing in a devastating hit-and-run accident. When she and her fiercely loyal service dog discover the murdered body of a former colleague, Amelia is pulled into a “deadly mystery that could finally reveal the truth about the accident that changed her life,” according to the description.
“Not a Sound”is written by “Big Sky” duo Matthew Tinker (who serves as president of David E. Kelley Productions) and Annakate Chappell. Azazel Jacobs (“His Three Daughters”) is attached to direct. Chappell executive produces alongside Jacobs, Kelley and Tinker. Pompeo and Laura Holstein are EPs via Calamity Jane. 20th Television is the studio.

The project falls under Pompeo’s overall deal with 20th Television. She’s been doing quite a lot of business with Disney lately. Her true crime anthology series “Good American Family” was recently renewed by Hulu for a second season, and the streamer also ordered a dramedy pilot starring and executive produced by Pompeo titled “Chicks.”
Of course, she also stars in the ABC medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” on which she has played Meredith Grey since 2005. She executive produced the spinoff series “Station 19” and is an EP on the upcoming “Grey’s” offshoot set in West Texas, which is set to premiere in midseason 2027.
