El Grande Americano overcomes Liv Morgan to win AAA Mega Championship at Triplemania 34

In the main event of Triplemania 34 Night 2, El Grande Americano defeated Dominik Mysterio to win the AAA Mega Championship. Oh boy, was there chaos. So much chaos. And it was glorious. Liv Morgan, JD McDonagh, Rey Mysterio, and others played a role in the match. In the end, father screwed son, albeit in a righteous decision. A mariachi celebration closed the show from Mexico City on Sunday night (Sep. 13, 2026).

Earlier in the evening, the scene was set by Dominik assuming his father was absent due to the violent beatdown at the hands of Omos on Night 1 in Las Vegas. Dom felt confident in his plan and told the giant to stay in the back.

The main event was no DQ and no count-out. Grande fought with fury at the opening bell. He pummeled Dom from pillar to post through the crowd until a dirty poke to the eye slowed him down. Dominik went to work with chair shots to the injured ribs. He added insult to injury by whipping Grande with the belt of Dorian Roldan.

When Grande rallied for La Cavernaria submission with the belt, the chaos went into overdive and never slowed down. Roldan caused a distraction, so Grande released the hold. JD McDonagh ran in from the backside to smash a headbutt to Grande’s jaw. Dominik connected on the 619, but it wasn’t enough to win.

Los Americanos arrived to beat McDonagh to the back. Bravo added flair for a flying crossbody off the top of the TitanTron onto Rayo, JD, and a group of officials.

Next up was Dominik’s insurance policy. Omos saw enough and stomped to the ring. He destroyed all the Americanos. Grande had an answer by gouging the giant’s eye and kicking him in the cojones. Grande chopped Omos down with chair shots. Omos powered up to charge forward. Grande sidestepped, and the giant crashed through the barricade. Omos was out of commission for the rest of the bout.

Time for Liv Morgan to take matters into her own hands. Fresh off a flight from Chile, Morgan shoved Grande off the turnbuckles. Dominik connected on a 619 and landed a frog slash. Kick out by Grande! I wonder if Liv passed through customs wearing that outfit.

Buckle in for even more shenanigans. Dominik pulled the referee in front of Grande’s headbutt. Ref down! Morgan passed the mega title to Dom to crack Grande. Dominik missed on the frog splash. Grande hit a bullseye on the leaping headbutt. One problem though. The referee was still out cold. The crowd erupted as Rey Mysterio sprint to the ring while wearing a neck brace. Rey was the backup referee, and the three-count was official. Grande won the AAA Mega Championship.

That match was crazy fun. The action was so wild that it fit perfectly as a Triplemania main event. To be clear, it is not on the same level as El Grande Americano mask versus mask. And that’s okay. We need to remember that the mask versus mask was a once-in-a-decade performance (maybe shorter than a decade these days with so much great wrestling, but you get the point). Grande versus Dominik was packed with moments to pop excitement. Dominik stacked the deck, and Grande heroically overcame the odds as his legend grows. Rey as referee was a great surprise, and it adds fuel to the fire of that family rivalry. The cherry on top was the mariachi celebration playing, “Cielito Lindo.”
