DWTS’ Guillermo Rodriguez Says He’s Gained 10 Pounds Amid Rehearsals

Watch: Why Guillermo Rodriguez Was Relieved to Learn DWTS Partner Witney Carson Is Pregnant

Guillermo Rodriguez is not exactly getting lighter on his feet.

Despite dancing three hours a day for the past five days while rehearsing for Dancing With the Stars, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! star admitted that he has actually gained weight.

“I did. Ten pounds,” he told Jimmy Kimmel on Sept. 8 episode of the late night show, explaining, “After the practice, I go eat right away. I’m so hungry.”

But while he may not be tipping the scales, Rodriguez said preparing for season 35 alongside pro partner Witney Carson has been worth the weight.

“It’s going good, Jimmy. It’s a lot of work. My body hurts,” the 55-year-old said. “I’m having fun, Jimmy.”

However, Rodriguez had hoped that DWTS would be a step in the right direction toward his weight loss goals. In fact, that was one reason he signed on to compete for the Mirrorball Trophy.

“Everybody who does Dancing With the Stars, they tell me they lose weight,” he told Entertainment Tonight earlier this month. “So, I want to lose weight.”

“I was telling Guillermo, I’m like, ‘I’m a little nervous to tell you, but I am pregnant,'” she shared with E! News after the cast was announced. “And he’s like, ‘I actually feel a little relieved because that means you’ll take a lot of breaks for food.'”

Carson, 32, quipped, “I was like, ‘That is true. That’s very true.'”
