Bandai Namco’s released a 6-minute gameplay deep dive for Dragon Ball XenoVerse 3, which basically digs into the flow and structure of a mission.

Right off the bat, it’s clear that this long-awaited sequel is a step up from XenoVerse 2 in terms of presentation. It’s a huge improvement graphically — as you’d expect — but the animation work is also a level above.

The footage follows two separate player characters — one a male Saiyan, and the other a female human. It outlines the main differences between the races, in regards to movesets and abilities.

This is actually the same mission that I was shown during a recent press event — but to me, it looks like the game’s been upgraded since then. There seems to be a bit more polish on display here.

The demo ends by showing off two different kinds of special abilities. The first, Soul Switch, lets you swap out with an existing Dragon Ball character for a limited time, making use of their more powerful attacks.

The second is Awakening, where your protagonist temporarily transforms. Said transformation is based on your hero’s race, so this Saiyan example obviously goes Super Saiyan.

XenoVerse 3 is shaping up pretty well, then, but it still doesn’t have a release date. All we know for sure is that it’s coming in 2027.
