“Most of us do not dare step outside what we consider to be the consensus simulations.” Oscilloscope Labs has unveiled an official trailer for a fascinating new documentary film titled in full John Lilly and the Earth Coincidence Control Office, which is partially a biopic about a scientist which becomes an even more profound look at life and consciousness. This first premiered at last year’s Rotterdam Film Festival and played at tons of other festivals in 2025 including London, Vienna, Chicago Underground, True/False, and Visions du Réel, among many others. The film focuses on Dr. John C. Lilly, who dedicated his life to radical self-investigation and unlocking the mysteries of consciousness and communication. “My body is my laboratory” was his motto. This visionary neuroscientist explores the limits of consciousness with isolation tanks, communication with dolphins, and psychedelic experiments, transforming himself from researcher to mystical explorer. The doc also features chats with visionary filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky and narration by Chloë Sevigny.
