“Will you help corrupt me?” “Sure…” Quiver has unveiled the full official US trailer for an indie film titled Mustache, marking the feature directorial debut of Pakistani-American filmmaker Imran J. Khan. This is finally getting a VOD debut this summer after first premiering at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival a few years back. It received some rave reviews but hasn’t ever been given a proper release until now. The coming-of-age film is about Ilyas, a 13-year-old boy who navigates the social hierarchy of his new public school in CA with a mustache his parents won’t let him shave. Starring Atharv Verma as Ilyas, who must learn to accept himself while dealing with the chaos of high school. It also stars Rizwan Manji, Meesha Shafi, Ayana Manji, Hasan Minhaj, with Alicia Silverstone. Reviews say that the film is: “a winning and emotionally balanced coming of age comedy, Imran J. Khan’s first feature Mustache is among the finest teen movies of the modern era, right alongside the works of Kelly Fremon Craig.” Yep, it looks really good – worth a watch.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Imran J. Khan’s film Mustache, direct from YouTube:

The late-90s in Northern California and 13-year-old Pakistani-American Ilyas (starring Atharv Verma) is facing a major crisis — his parents yanked him out of his comfortable Islamic private school and now he has to face life at public school. Ilyas’ fears about joining public school are made worse by insecurities due to his inescapable, prepubescent Mustache. Ilyas hatches a hilarious plan to return to his old school — but he must also learn to accept himself. Mustache is both written and directed by Pakistani-American editor / filmmaker Imran J. Khan, making his feature directorial debut after making many other short films and lots of film editing work as well. Produced by Jessica Sittig & Christina Won. This initially premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival a few years ago and it also played at a few other festivals that year. Quiver Distr. debuts Khan’s Mustache film direct-to-VOD to watch starting July 31st, 2026 this summer. Looks good?
