CM Punk guest-starred on the Tuesday episode of the hit ABC show R.J. Decker, and his role will inevitably lead to more whispers about performance-enhancing drugs.
On the show, Punk plays a character named Mike, who is a member of a street gang known as the Red Kings. Mike comes into contact with show protagonists Decker (Scott Speedman), a private investigator, and Mel (Bevin Bru), a police detective, while they’re looking for a man known as Eduardo in connection with their investigation.
Eduardo is described as a “steroid enthusiast,” and when Decker seeks information about him from Mike (Punk), Mel dangles the threat of a steroid investigation in order to get Mike to talk.
The duo confronts Mike, saying they need to talk. Decker then informs the gangster that Eduardo has been murdered.
“Search of his apartment turned up evidence he was buying a lot of steroids and peptides from you,“ Decker tells Punk’s character.
Mel then adds, “I’m not sure it’s enough to press charges, but it’s definitely enough to open an investigation if I want. You help us out with something, maybe I don’t.”
Mike reluctantly agrees to talk with Decker and Mel in a more private location, where he drops information related to Eduardo and a man named Carmine, who has New Jersey mob connections.
As readers of Cageside Seats are well aware, Punk has faced his own accusations of steroid use this year after he bulked up around the time of WrestleMania 42.
The former Undisputed WWE Champion addressed how he added so much muscle in a relatively short time during a July appearance on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story? podcast.
During the interview with McMahon, Punk gave credit to Jay Ferruggia, a fitness expert who works with high-profile athletes, for his physical transformation. According to The Straight Edge Superstar, a regular gym routine coupled with weighing his food went a long way towards building more muscle.
While Punk himself has never publicly refuted steroid allegations, Ferruggia shut down talk that his famous client got shredded through chemical enhancement.
In an Instagram video posted in August, Ferruggia said, “CM Punk is working as hard as anyone I’ve ever worked with. He’s as dedicated as anyone.”
“You want to sit here and post after post, ‘CM Punk is on steroids,’ blah, blah. Meanwhile, half these pictures are AI, and the other half are from being in the gym with great lighting, with a great pump,” Ferruggia said.
The fitness expert added: “So just because someone’s getting somewhere and accomplishing something that you can’t doesn’t mean they are taking shortcuts and cheating.”
