An airport worker and his friend have been arrested after they were allegedly caught exchanging a duffel bag containing 24 pounds of fentanyl in a restroom at LAX. Miguel Angel Tuz-Noh, 24, who works at Los Angeles International Airport, and Anthony Olvera, 23, were both arrested after allegedly attempting to transport the drugs on a flight bound for Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Investigators said they observed the two men attempting to exchange narcotics in a men’s restroom at an airport terminal, and later discovered a duffel bag containing ten “brick-type” packages of fentanyl. “Both defendants were arrested on August 19 and made their initial appearances on August 21 in United States District Court in downtown Los Angeles. A federal magistrate judge ordered each of them released on $10,000 bond. Their arraignments are scheduled for September 17,” the Justice Department announced. Federal authorities believe Tuz-Noh had ties to a drug trafficking organization. Both men have been charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and face a minimum sentence of ten years, with a maximum of life, in prison. The Los Angeles Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration are investigating.

Golf equipment giant Callaway has apologized for approving a controversial ad that showed a man shoving a female professional golfer to the ground. The since-deleted video, produced by Good Good Golf to promote a co-branded driver, showed co-founder Garrett Clark pushing pro golfer and creator Alexis Miestowski to the ground before declaring, “Do not touch my new driver.” The clip sparked backlash online, with critics accusing the brands of trivializing violence against women. In a post on X captioned “A Message From Our CEO,” the company acknowledged approving the ad before it was posted and said that decision was a mistake. “That approval should never have happened. Mistakes were made and we are taking the matter very seriously,” the statement, signed off by Callaway CEO Chip Brewer, said. “The content was inappropriate and does not reflect our values,” the statement continued, adding that Callaway is “unequivocally against discrimination, domestic violence or threatening behavior of any kind.” Good Good Golf also apologized and removed the video, saying it was inconsistent with its mission to make golf more inclusive.

The owner of a mansion used as Wayne Manor in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins movie could lose the property because of bats. Simon Halabi, an investor once valued at around $4.3 billion, has been told his Mentmore Towers in Buckinghamshire must prove that a bat ecologist has inspected the building to determine whether animals live in its roof. All bat species are protected under British law because of their dwindling numbers, meaning that any building where they could be nesting must be officially inspected before any renovation work takes place. Halabi purchased the sprawling manor owned by the Rothschild family in 1999, but its condition has since deteriorated and itrequires urgent repairs. If the owner of the manor does not prove that a so-called “bat survey” has been carried out within a month, the local council could ask the government to acquire the mansion, pending legal action. Henrietta Billings, director of Save Britain’s Heritage, has welcomed the push to carry out the “urgent and overdue repairs” on the sprawling building, which has stood since 1854. The manor has appeared in other films, including 2001’s The Mummy Returns and the Spice Girls’ 1998 music video for “Goodbye.”

An airport worker has been seriously injured after being struck by a passenger jet as it prepared for takeoff in Canada. The unidentified marshaller was directing an Airbus A350 operated by French airline French Bee at Montreal-Trudeau Airport on Monday night when he fell and was hit by the aircraft, Radio Canada reported. A witness said passengers began screaming after the worker appeared to go underneath the moving plane. Emergency crews rushed to the scene before taking the injured worker to a hospital. Montreal police confirmed he suffered serious injuries but did not release further details. The plane, which was scheduled to fly from Montreal to Paris, was grounded for several hours after the incident. It eventually departed after midnight, more than six hours behind schedule, and landed in Paris at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. French Bee confirmed the accident and said it was under investigation. The airline added that it was cooperating with Canadian authorities and supporting those affected.

Chris “Block” Gordon, a seasoned drag racer and television personality known for his appearances on Discovery reality series Street Outlaws: Fastest in America, was killed in a crash at an Ohio raceway on Saturday. KD Motorsports Park confirmed in a Facebook post that Gordon, 55, had died. “As most of you know by now, we had a devastating accident last night at the track involving our great friend and fellow racer, Chris ‘Block’ Gordon,” the post read. “Please keep his wife and family in your thoughts and prayers as we all try to mourn the loss of this good man.” The post said that medical personnel provided aid immediately after the crash and “exhausted all of their efforts at the time of the accident.” Gordon was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead Saturday night, according to WOWK. A 396-ton castle damaged in an earthquake has been dragged by ropes, rollers and 1,800 willing volunteers. The enormous team effort used a technique known as hikiya to move Hirosaki Castle in Japan’s Aomori prefecture more than six-and-a-half feet so that vital repairs could be completed to a damaged wall. “We had about 8,000 applications for the 1,800 slots over the last two days, roughly four times oversubscribed, so not everyone could participate,” Hirosaki City’s parks boss Kensuke Hayasaka told the Guardian. “Not only from the city, but from across Japan and overseas; a fair number from south-east Asia and from Europe and North America.” Volunteers shouted “so-re, so-re” as they heaved the huge keep over Saturday and Sunday, in what is the latest stage of work that has been ongoing since 2015. A routine weather segment turned into chaos after an on-air prank blew up in a broadcaster’s face, leaving him struggling to breathe through uncontrollable laughter on live television. The tour bus for the 2000s rock band Buckcherry was involved in a fatal crash in South Carolina on Friday. A person who stepped out of their car on the highway was struck and killed by a Toyota sedan. None of the band members—Josh Todd, Stevie Dacanay, Billy Rowe, Kelly LeMieux or Francis Ruiz—were hurt. In a statement, the rockers confirmed their bus had been involved in the accident: “At approximately 2 a.m. Friday morning, Buckcherry’s tour bus was involved in a multi-vehicle accident on I-26 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.” It was unclear how the bus was involved in the multi-vehicle collision. “Tragically, authorities have confirmed that the collision that occurred ahead of our bus resulted in a fatality. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life,” the band wrote. Buckcherry is currently on its Roar Like Thunder tour. The band was traveling from their show in Asheville, North Carolina, at the time of the crash.
