Christopher Bell’s long-awaited movie review of ‘Days of Thunder’ is finally here

The list of must-see movies for NASCAR fans is pretty short.

Despite this, Christopher Bell had a glaring blind spot in his Letterboxd account, as until recently, he apparently had never seen the 1990 Tony Scott classic Days of Thunder.

Bell had recently gotten some well-deserved grief from his fellow drivers for not having seen the film. “They have TVs in Oklahoma, I think,” Kyle Larson said with a shocked look on his face when he learned Bell had yet to enjoy Tom Cruise’s performance as Cole Trickle.

Thankfully, Bell finally got to the important work of watching Days of Thunder during NASCAR’s off week in early August. His review? Let’s say mostly positive.

“It was a good one,” Bell said of the movie. “There were parts of it that were super realistic for sure, and then there were parts that were a bit cheesy. Overall, I give it a solid 89/100. Close to an A. I wish the on-track stuff was just a little more realistic.”

Somehow, Days of Thunder was not the only must-see NASCAR film Bell had yet to enjoy, as before he finished off the video, he noted that he had also never watched Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby from front to back.

Safe to say Bell should have his movie plans for the offseason set. In the meantime, Bell’s fellow drivers can stop mocking him for not having seen Days of Thunder, and instead mock him for not liking the movie enough, and not having seen Talladega Nights.
