Cheval Is Riding Out Dubai’s Demand Slump On Long-Stay Guests

UK-based luxury hospitality company Cheval Collection wants to double the size of its global portfolio within the next few years, with the Middle East emerging as a key growth driver, according to Daniel Johansson, the company’s director of development and acquisitions.

Cheval currently has 16 projects spread across the UK and the Middle East. Its expansion in the Middle East began with Cheval Maison – The Palm Dubai and then added Cheval Maison – Expo City Dubai, both serviced apartments. These are furnished units with hotel-style services (housekeeping, front desk) with self-contained kitchen and living space, aimed at medium- to long-stay guests.

Cheval then moved into the branded residences space in April with the Cheval Residences Dubai Islands, with anticipated completion in 2029. It’s structured differently from Cheval’s serviced apartment model: units are sold to individual owners, who can also opt into a rental pro
