USA Wrestling is saddened to share the news of the passing of Henry “Hank” Goldman III, a cherished member of the wrestling community, at age 92. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Goldman Hicks; his son, Duane (Patricia) Goldman; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at noon on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Flying W Ranch, 3330 Chuckwagon Road, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Goldman was a passionate supporter and advocate for USA Wrestling. Over several decades, he traveled often to international competitions to promote the sport and support U.S. athletes, following them to events around the world, including some of the sport’s most remote stages.
His passion for wrestling began at the University of Wyoming, where he joined the wrestling team. Throughout his successful collegiate career, he won a conference championship and competed at the NCAA Championships, laying the groundwork for a lifelong love of the sport he shared with his beloved wife, Dolores.
Hank and Dolores met in Sun Valley, Idaho, in 1954 and married two years later in her hometown of Ogden, Utah. They settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where they raised three children: Leslie, Lynne and Duane. Duane, an NCAA wrestling champion and four-time NCAA finalist at the University of Iowa, and the head coach at Indiana University for 26 years, carries on Hank’s love of wrestling.
Hank’s travels around the globe often took him to Africa, where he spent many trips enjoying the continent’s natural beauty and wildlife. His love of animals, culture and history fueled his travels and created lasting memories with his loved ones around the world.
USA Wrestling is deeply grateful for Goldman’s lasting impact on the organization and for the many lives he touched. He was a bright light within the wrestling community, an inspiration to those fortunate enough to know him and a cherished member of the USA Wrestling family. He will be greatly missed.
Hank was preceded in death by his sister, June Goldman Breton Fisher; his brother, Adrian Peter Goldman; his loving wife of 50 years, Dolores Anderson Goldman; his daughter, Lynne Goldman Vagt; and his son-in-law, Tab Hicks.
