“You’re going to have to do these things by yourself soon.” Willa has revealed the official US trailer for the film Take Me Home, the feature directorial debut of Korean-American director Liz Sargent. It premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier in the year, then it also played at Berlinale, Tribeca, Nantucket, and other festivals this year. Anna cares for her aging parents in a fragile balance of meeting one another’s needs. When a Florida heat wave shatters their family and Anna’s routine, her future is uncertain until she creates a world where she can thrive. Take Me Home stars Anna Sargent as Anna, the filmmaker’s real-life sister, with Victor Slezak, Ali Ahn, Marceline Hugot, and Shane Harper. Sundance adds: “Expanded from Sargent’s acclaimed short, Take Me Home exposes the indignities of the American health care system and the structural challenges faced by disabled people. In Take Me Home, their daily life is held together in a tenuous balance. Anna (played by Anna Sargent, the filmmaker’s real-life sister), a 38-year-old Korean adoptee with a cognitive disability, lives with her aging parents (Victor Slezak & Marceline Hugot) in their cluttered Orlando home. They take care of one another — Anna’s mother bathes her, her father drives them to the store, Anna provides physical support for their weakening bodies — but each day brings reminders that what they’ve built can’t last. They’re functioning, but essentially in survival mode. When a tragedy upends their delicate balance, the household threatens to crumble, revealing impossible choices many are faced with when they have family who need caregiving. Take Me Home is written and directed by Korean-American filmmaker Liz Sargent, making her feature directorial debut after many short films, adapting her own short for this feature.
