American Airlines is launching nonstop flights from Chicago O’Hare to Tokyo as the carrier looks to expand internationally to better compete with rivals Delta and United.
The new service will start March 27, 2027 and will be American’s 11th long-haul route out of Chicago O’Hare. American will operate the route on a Boeing 787-9, which includes 30 business class seats and 21 premium economy ones.
“This new service is a testament to our continued commitment to make our hub stronger, broaden choices for customers and keep Chicago competitive on the world stage,” said American CEO Robert Isom in a statement.
