Verano de Escandalo (Summer of Scandal) is the next major event for AAA. General manager Rey Mysterio revealed the triple main event for the card.
During Saturday night’s episode of AAA Lucha Libre (July 11, 2026), Mysterio dished the news to the media scrum. Verano de Escandalo will be filmed on July 25 in Aguascalientes, and it will air over three weeks. Each week will have a marquee main event.
The first main event live for week one wasn’t addressed in the scrum, because the matchmaking occurred after this scene aired. I’m going with a strong assumption that it will be a tag team match with Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano against two members of Los Perros del Mal. Dom decided to watch EGA’s back to protect themselves from the Perros. When EGA was attacked at the end of the show, Dom arrived with a chair to scare those mutts. That’s when Dirty Dom issued the challenge for Verano de Escandalo.
Rey stated that the main event for week two will be Fenix defending the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against Mini Vikingo. The challenger earned his spot with a victory in a three-way over Dragon Lee and Jack Cartwheel. Dragon had the win in his grasp after catching Cartwheel for a counter Styles Clash. Mini Vikingo landed a phoenix 630 senton on the pile, then he scored the pin on Cartwheel.
The main event for week three will be Flammer defending the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship in a three-way against La Catalina and Lady Shani. Catalina has been a thorn in Flammer’s side ever since debuting from CMLL. Shani scored a non-title singles win over Flammer last week.
Mysterio discussed more matches for the card, but the week to air is unclear. Next week in the mixed tag team division, Mysterio is granting La Hiedra one more chance to challenge for the titles. She will team with Laredo Kid in a #1 contender bout against Faby Apache and Joaquin Wilde. The winners advance to wrestle mixed tag team champions Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana at Verano de Escandalo.
The AAA Latin American Championship was vacated due to injury to Hijo del Vikingo. Omos and Damian Priest are interested in the title. Mysterio has yet to reveal his plans to crown a new champion, however, there is a good chance of business getting settled for that title at Verano de Escandalo.
