I love it. I grew up with it. Critics are wrong, Hook is a amazing! Sony Pictures is preparing to release the new 4K Steelbook Collector’s Edition of the 1991 movie (order it here), and included in here is a brand-new documentary about the making of this iconic Spielberg classic. “Relive the magic of Robin Williams as Peter Pan with an all-new hour-long documentary featuring never-before-seen footage from the making of Steven Spielberg’s Hook.” Apparently they had a documentary crew filming the filming of the movie back in 1990, but the doc about it was never released in full? Now they’ve finished it and it’s included as a special feature in the 4K Steelbook. Hook stars Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook, Robin Williams as Peter Pan, Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell, Bob Hoskins as Smee, Maggie Smith as Wendy, and Charlie Korsmo as Jack. Directed by Steven Spielberg and nominated for 5 Oscars, Hook stars Robin Williams as Peter Banning, a 40-year-old corporate takeover lawyer who has lost any memory of being Peter Pan. Peter and his family travel to London to visit Granny Wendy (Maggie Smith) and his children are asleep in the same bedroom where the original Peter Pan story began, when there is a blinding flash. Peter comes into the room to discover a note from Captain Hook (Dustin Hoffman), informing Peter that he has kidnapped his children. Granny Wendy now tells him who he really is and encourages him to transform himself into the Peter Pan of the past. With the encouragement of Tinkerbell (Julia Roberts), Peter once again takes wing, and it’s off to Neverland to rescue his kids. Hook is directed by acclaimed American filmmaker Steven Spielberg, his 13th feature film at the time after Always (1989) and before making Jurassic Park (1993). The screenplay is written by Jim V.
