Denise Weinberg is Terrific in Brazilian Film ‘The Blue Trail’ US Trailer

The Blue Trail Trailer

“You will see things you have never seen.” Dekanalog has debuted the US trailer for the acclaimed Brazilian indie film titled The Blue Trail, one of my favorite indie discoveries from 2025. It’s finally getting a US release in select theaters starting in April – and I highly recommend catching it on the big screen. Absolutely stunning shots of the river they journey down. This lo-fi sci-fi film is set in a dystopian “near future” where they send elderly people away. To maximize productivity, the Brazilian government orders old folks to move to remote colonies. A 77-year-old woman refuses and embarks on a journey through the Amazon that will change her destiny forever. Winner of Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at last year’s Berlin Film Fest, the latest from director Gabriel Mascaro (Neon Bull, Divine Love) is an inspiring reminder that it’s never too late to take flight. Starring Denise Weinberg as the fierce & free Tereza, Rodrigo Santoro as a boat captain she encounters, Miriam Socarras, Adanilo, and Rosa Malagueta. I’m a big fan of this film (here’s my full review) because it’s so visually sumptuous and endearing. There’s also a hallucinogenic snail with blue slime that they use for tripping – which is a vital part of her profound journey (you go Tereza!). Take a look below. // Continue Reading ›
