In life, you’re either the pigeon or the statue. On Monday, Dragon Lee was the statue — but in wrestling, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
After retiring AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble, Gunther showed up to Raw in Philadelphia to gloat. Calling himself “The Career Killer,” he bragged about adding Styles to his list of casualties that already includes Goldberg and John Cena.
But Lee — Styles’ former tag team title partner — wasn’t having it. He stormed the ring and took the fight to Gunther, knocking him over the guardrail.
As the luchador rushed in to finish the job, Gunther hit him with a ring bell and locked him in a sleeper hold. After officials broke it up, Gunther grabbed Lee again, cinching a second sleeper that left him dangling over the apron.
Lee fought to escape, but his body went limp. When Gunther finally released the hold, the lifeless Lee collapsed to the floor, making no effort to protect himself, adding to the realism of the moment.

Buying What Dragon is Selling
Fans often celebrate the stars who win or appear dominant, but forget the wrestlers whose job is to make those stars look unstoppable. This week, Dragon Lee was given that assignment — and he made Gunther look like a million bucks. Lee is likely to be Gunther’s next opponent, a body to keep “The Career Killer” warm until WrestleMania.
It may not sound like the most glamorous spot, but it’s essential to Gunther’s run. Not to mention, Lee is no pushover, as his recent work in WWE’s lucha libre territory indicates.
At AAA’s Alianzas in November, he had a fiery confrontation with El Hijo del Vikingo that led to a hotly contested showdown at Guerra De Titanes in December that proved Lee has the goods to carry a high-profile encounter.
Will Dragon Lee do the honors for Gunther? Absolutely. In the process, expect him to turn in a strong showing that could be a surprise hit in 2026.
For now, hats off to Dragon Lee on a phenomenal performance — here’s to someone doing the same for Lee when it’s the Dragon’s time to shine.
