“Visually lush. A loving tribute.” Sony Pictures Classics has revealed a brand new fun teaser trailer for the French animated film called A Magnificent Life, the shorter version of its original Magnificent Life of Marcel Pagnol title, the latest creation from Sylvain Chomet – acclaimed director of The Triplets of Belleville and The Illusionist. This is his latest feature since last making Attila Marcel in 2013 – back again with his distinct animation style. He also made the animated short at the start of Joker: Folie à Deux about his shadow. His new film follows the life of Marcel Pagnol, a playwright, novelist, and a filmmaker who became one of the world’s most inventive & prolific artists in the mid-20th century. Based on Pagnol’s book, examining his entire life from childhood through his successful career in France and beyond. We featured a teaser way back in 2024 before it would later premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Now it’s finally set for a March 2026 release in US theaters soon. The French voice cast includes Laurent Lafitte, Géraldine Pailhas, Thierry Garcia, and Anaïs Petit; with Tom Hiddleston in the English voice cast. Even with mixed reviews so far, I still think this seems like a charming and entertaining animated biopic. Check it out. // Continue Reading ›
