Selma Blair Makes First Public Outing Since Arrest, Flight Emergency

Watch: Selma Blair’s Rep Breaks Silence After Alleged Attack on Plane Crew Mid-Flight

Selma Blair is turning her attention to the past for the time being.

Four days after the Cruel Intentions actress was arrested after she experienced what her rep described as a “medical emergency” on a New York-bound flight, she made a public appearance at 90s Con in Connecticut where she leaned into her career nostalgia.

For the Oct. 16 outing, Blair donned a white sweater over a black collared shirt and a pair of black slacks. The 54-year-old also posed for photos with fans, sitting on a stool and leaning into the photo opps with a wide grin, as seen in a photo published by Daily Mail.

Hours before making her first public appearance since the plane incident—which led to her allegedly attacking two flight crew members and subsequently a police officer and nurse—Blair’s rep attempted to clear up rumors that have been circulating.

“Selma Blair experienced a medical emergency on the flight,” the rep shared in an Oct. 16 statement to E! News. “There was no attempt to open the door of the aircraft. Selma did not intend to harm anyone. The suggestion by anyone that Selma does not have multiple sclerosis is outrageous. Her diagnosis has been public since 2018.”

In fact, Blair’s lawyer said it was her MS care regimen that precipitated the plane incident.

As her attorney Shawn Barnesshared in court Oct. 12, per Page Six, the Legally Blonde star—who was arraigned on two counts of assault in the second degree, to which she pleaded not guilty—had missed taking the medicine prescribed to treat her MS and had recently fallen and hit her head.

Plus, she had been working “extensive” and “exhaustive” hours.

“These factors coupled with the altitude,” Barnes said, per Page Six, “resulted in a state of severe confusion and disorientation.”

Following the incident, Delta Airlines shared in a statement to E! News that the company “has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first.”

And as the FBI continues to investigate the incident involving Blair, the organization emphasized its responsibility to look into “all assaults aboard aircraft,” though noted in a statement to E! News, “As per long-standing DOJ policy, we do not comment on ongoing investigations.”
