Watch: Mauricio Umansky Gets Honest About Kyle Richards, Their Separation & Moving Forward | E! Hot Goss
Mauricio Umansky is down for the count.
The Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test star reached his breaking point during the Fox reality competition series’ Oct. 15 episode, ultimately quitting season five due to a painful rib injury.
As day five kicked off in Malaysia, the directing staff informed the 11 remaining celebrities they’d be participating in a brutal chemical warfare simulation that would cause extreme discomfort and physical pain. But after Mauricio had trouble simply walking to the challenge due to a suspected sprain, the luxury realtor feared he couldn’t handle the taxing test of stamina.
“Staff, I am going to have to VW,” the 56-year-old announced upon his decision to voluntarily withdraw. “I physically no longer can continue.”
Staff member Jovon “Q” Quarles looked confused by Mauricio’s proclamation. However, the father of four explained, “My rib is just hurting and if I’m going to be coughing and not able to breathe, I feel like it’s gonna break further.”
But The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star still wasn’t completely sure he wanted to quit, especially after Q reminded Mauricio he’d be leaving his and Kyle Richards‘ daughter, Alexia Umansky, to fend for herself in the competition.
Seeing her dad’s suffering first-hand, the 30-year-old gave Mauricio the go-ahead to leave with a loving nod of approval and a thumb’s up.

With that, Mauricio declared once and for all, “I can no longer go on. Thank you for everything.”
Of course, Alexia was still sad to see her dad exit the competition.
“It’s hard to see a world where my dad leaves the course,” she admitted in a confessional before vowing, “but if it happens, I above all else want to shock myself and discover myself.”

Prior to Mauricio’s exit, Alexia elaborated on what it was like seeing her father struggle.
“I don’t think anyone wants to see their dad in pain,” she shared. “Seeing a father in a vulnerable position, it shakes you.”
