Watch: DWTS’ Jackson Olson Reacts to Being “Canceled” Over Guillermo Rodriguez Diss
Jimmy Kimmel is making Guillermo Rodriguez take a bow.
After the longtime Jimmy Kimmel Live! sidekick was eliminated from Dancing With the Stars season 35 in its Oct. 13 episode, the late night host dedicated a segment to his partner’s job well done.
“Let’s get to the main event now,” Kimmel said during the Oct. 13 episode of his late night show. “To the brightest star in all the universe, Guillermo, who has somehow against all odds made it to week five of Dancing With the Stars and is the toast of the internet.”
Before confirming that Rodriguez and his partner Witney Carson were, indeed, eliminated in week five, Kimmel made a point to prove that the comedian was winning when it came to online affection.
“These are YouTube views,” Kimmel said, displaying a screen revealing that Rodriguez and Witney have racked up over 700,000 views for their routines. “Guillermo and his partner Witney had more than triple the views of their next contestant.”
Later, the 58-year-old—dad to Katie, 35, and Kevin, 33, with ex Gina Maddy, as well as Jane, 12, and Billy, 9, with wife Molly McNearney—played a clip where a young fan named showed support for Rodriguez—and inquired whether Kimmel was his father.
“I am not Guillermo’s dad,” Kimmel quipped. “But I am just as proud of him as I am of my own children.”
And when Kimmel played the clip of Rodriguez and Carson finally getting eliminated, the comedian joked, “What a kick in the Mirrorballs.”
He later had Rodriguez and Carson dial into the show, at which point he praised both his longtime colleague and his dance partner, who competed while pregnant with her third baby.

“Witney, your choreography this season has been absolutely incredible,” Kimmel mused. “The situations you’ve put Guillermo in—really, really impressive. I mean honestly, you’ve taken this lump of Play-Doh and you’ve sculpted him into a masterpiece.”
To Rodriguez, Kimmel joked, “You have brought so much joy to so many and now we have nothing to look forward to ever again.”
Rodriguez, for his part, wasn’t feeling at all out of step with getting sent home. After all, he revealed he had achieved the one thing he set out to do on DWTS.
“Jimmy, I said I was gonna lose weight,” he said, “and I did lose weight.”
