However, wind advisories remain across much of the region for sustained winds.
Communities on the U.S. Gulf Coast are bracing as Hurricane Isaias made landfall Friday night as a Category 2 storm.
The storm, with winds up to 105 mph, made landfall near Destin, Florida, in the Florida Panhandle at 8:30 p.m. CT. As it continued its march north over the western part of the Panhandle, the storm weakened to a Category 1 and then to a post-tropical cyclone early Saturday.
Many low-lying and coastal areas, particularly on the Florida Panhandle, are under evacuation orders, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a press conference Friday morning.
Storm surge warnings are also in place along the coast, with surges forecast to reach up to 9 feet from the Santa Rosa/Okaloosa County Line, Florida, to Grayton Beach, Florida.

No fatalities confirmed in Florida from Hurricane Isaias, DeSantis says
There are no confirmed fatalities from Hurricane Isaias in the state of Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Saturday.
The governor had said they are hearing about a possible fatality in Escambia County from a fallen tree — but that has not yet been confirmed by state officials, he said.
“We have not yet received any requests for search and rescue deployment, and I take that as an optimistic sign. But our resources are prepared in the event that the need arises, particularly with respect to any flooding that may occur on the back end of this storm,” DeSantis said.

There were wind gusts of up to 116 mph near the Santa Rosa sound, DeSantis said, and over 100 mph near Pensacola. Water Levels were 5.5 feet higher than normal, he said.
All state-owned bridges are safe and have been reopened for travel after having been inspected his morning, he said. Northwest Florida Beaches Airport has reopened, but Destin Fort Walton Beach Airport is still closed.
