Jim Ross scheduled for a second brain surgery this week

Jim Ross announced on Monday (October 5) that he is scheduled to undergo a second brain surgery this week.

The news comes less than two months after Ross underwent an operation to have a shunt inserted in his brain to drain excess fluid. The legendary commentator recently shared that he’s been experiencing “blistering headaches” after the first procedure that keeps him from sleeping at night.

”They hurt so bad that I wake up in the middle of the night more often than not, two or three or four o’clock in the morning, because I got a headache,” Ross said on his Grilling JR podcast last week. “The only thing I can say is that it probably would remind me of, what I think anyway, a migraine headache is.”

In his Monday update, he said a second surgery will take place on Wednesday (October 7) to fix the shunt.

“Getting another brain surgery Wednesday morning to address an issue with my shunt,” the WWE Hall of Famer posted on X (Twitter). “Positive thoughts appreciated. Thanks.”

Ross had the shunt procedure done to address some memory issues he had been experiencing, and the August operation came soon after a prolonged hospitalization caused him to miss work with his current gig at AEW.

“I couldn’t live my life the way it was. I’d forget s**t, and I just couldn’t remember things. It was horrible,” Ross said on his podcast in July of his stint in the hospital. “I felt horrible. But that all started with me passing out in my house and being discovered there, which began almost a 40-day hospital stay. Let me tell you, that’s a long ass time. Those beds are small and lumpy, the food is predictable. Sometimes, the help doesn’t give a shit if you’re fit or not. I didn’t like it.”

The 74-year-old has also been challenged with other health issues. He suffered two broken toes from a fall that occurred on the morning of his first shunt operation. Ross has also divulged that doctors found a spot on his kidney that will be evaluated to see if it’s cancerous.

We at Cageside Seats wish Jim Ross a full and speedy recovery.
