Watch: Phil Collins Shares Daughter Lily Collins Feared for His Life During Alcoholism Battle
Phil Collins was ready to come together with Paul McCartney and make amends.
More than two decades after The Beatlesalum made a comment about the “In the Air Tonight” singer at the Queen’s Jubilee Concert in 2002, sparking years of strife, Collins confirmed they are now on good terms.
“We had a rehearsal at Buckingham Palace and I had a first edition Hunter Davis book [on The Beatles], which was very quite rare,” he explained on Piers Morgan Uncensored Oct. 2. “I took it to the rehearsal so Paul could sign it.”
“Paul came up behind with Heather Mills, who he was married to at that point, and I said, ‘Paul, could you sign this?'” he recalled. And while marking the book, Collins continued, “He probably didn’t mean it like it sounded, but he said, ‘He’s a big fan, our little Phil.'”
The drummerâwhose ex-wife Jill Tavelman, with whom he shares 37-year-old daughter LilyCollins, had gifted him the bookâwasn’t impressed by the comment, which he felt was patronizing.
“I thought, ‘You a–hole,'” he admitted. “I couldn’t help it. That’s just what I thought. I probably made more of it than he meant. I did make more of it.”
When Collins began promoting his 2016 memoir Not Dead Yet, he toldThe Sunday Times that McCartney had always treated him “condescendingly.”Â
Although the “Hey Jude” singer tried to address the situation by email after the profile was published, Collinsâalso dad to Joely Collins, 54, and Simon Collins, 50, with ex Andrea Bertorelli, as well as Nicholas Collins, 25, and Matthew Collins, 21, ex Orianne Ceveyâchose not to respond.

Earlier this year, McCartney had called him after learning the Genesis musician was collecting memorabilia as donations for the Kings Trust charity auction he was organizing.
“He said, ‘While we’re on the phone,'” Collins explained to Morgan. “I thought, ‘Oh, here we go.’ So he said, ‘What is all this about?’ I said, ‘I wish I’d never said it, Paul. I wish I’d never said it.’ He said, ‘I thought we were good, you know.'”
Against all odds, Collins and McCartneyâwho has yet to publicly address the situationâdecided not to let their ongoing feud be.
As he put it, “So we kissed and made up.”
While all Collins and McCartney needed was love, keep reading for more feuds that still have some celebs twisting and shouting.
