The main event of AEW’s tribute to PAC on tonight’s (Sept. 30) Dynamite was a 10-man tag team match pitting the Death Riders against the Don Callis Family.
As the Callis Family made their entrance, it quickly became apparent that this was actually Wardlow’s AEW return to the ring. His last match took place in March 2024. I would embed Wardlow’s entrance here, but I guess AEW didn’t think it was important enough to post on their X account.
The Death Riders then came out, with PAC’s chair empty. As the group made their way to the ring, Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir remained outside, with only four members (Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia, and Gabe Kidd) prepared for combat. When the commentators asked Moxley what was going on, Bryan Danielson’s music suddenly hit and he was revealed as the fifth man. It’s a good thing Bryan made up with Moxley earlier in the show.
It’s a 10-man tag, so Bryan didn’t have to carry the match. He got the hot tag late in the bout and kicked the shit out of Josh Alexander.
Wardlow was soon eating the American Dragon’s Busaiku Knee, after a YES chant.
The babyfaces went over, with Garcia pinning Doyle, and things got very emotional for Danielson and the Death Riders after the match was over.
How great was it to see Bryan Danielson back in the ring, Cagesiders? Are you surprised this is how Wardlow returned to AEW, and that he’s still a random thug in the Don Callis Family? Let me know in the comments below.
