Expedia filed a WARN notice in Washington eliminating 58 jobs, including executive positions and data science roles. The reorganization reached Illinois and Florida too.
Expedia is cutting 58 roles in Seattle, according to a Washington WARN notice filed this week, with the layoffs set to take place between November 21 and December 1.
The notice details where some reductions are landing: It lists several senior roles, including an SVP position that Skift previously reported in August. Of 31 total technical positions, 18 are in data science and machine learning.
In a statement, Expedia characterized the cuts as streamlining efforts, mainly related to finance.
“We are continuing to look across the organization for ways to simplify how we work. Our Global Finance team is making some changes, mostly to simplify their org structure,” the statement read. “Some employees are moving to new roles or locations, and some roles are being eliminated. We know change can be difficult, and we’re committed to supporting every employee through it.”

Summary
Expedia is cutting 58 jobs in Seattle, according to a Washington WARN notice — the state filing companies must make before mass layoffs — with exits dated between November 21 and December 1. Expedia said the cuts mostly involve simplifying its global finance organization, but the job list skews technical: 31 of the 58 roles are technical, and 18 of those sit in data science and machine learning, covering loyalty, payments, sponsored listings, marketing testing, and booking platform analytics. Senior roles are included, among them an SVP for Book-to-Trip, a VP of finance, a VP of operations and services, and five director-level jobs. Skift also identified cuts outside Washington, including a senior data scientist in Illinois and Julie Kyse, a 15-year veteran who led hotel global partnerships, in Florida. The reductions follow an August reorganization in which Expedia said it would work in “small end-to-end squads,” consolidated its data, AI, and agentic platforms, and tied the changes to AI. CEO Ariane Gorin, speaking by video at Skift Global Forum, described the priority as running the company more efficiently, citing a “make every dollar matter” mantra, 20 straight quarters of double-digit B2B growth, and free cash flow that has more than doubled since she took over in 2024.
