Jon Hamm is a happy man when it comes to his personal life.

After the Mad Men alum’s wife Anna Osceola debuted her baby bump during their appearance at the 2026 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles Sept. 14, he made his first public comments about expanding their family.

“Something’s happening here,” he told Seth Meyers, who held up a photo of Hamm and Osceola on the Emmys red carpet, during his Sept. 22 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. “What it is is exactly clear. We’re having a baby.”

After Meyers joked that it was convenient for Osceola’s bump to be perfectly full for the Mariska Hargitay-hosted event, the Million Dollar Arm actor seemed to agree.

“I’m not saying that she did it on purpose,” he quipped, “but decent timing.”

As for how Hamm feels about becoming a father for the first time?

“By turn, very excited and deeply terrified,” he said. “So, I think I’m doing it right.”

But as Meyers warned him, “By the way, that doesn’t ever go away.”

Though daunting, that piece of advice stuck with Hamm.

The self-deprecating joke caused Meyers—who shares kids Ashe, 10, Axel, 8, and Adelaide, 5, with wife Alexi Ashe—to joke that at 52, he gets excited to meet “a fellow old dad.”

Hamm, however, considers himself to be in a league of his own, the 55-year-old telling Meyers, “You got nothing on me.”

And the Late Night host seemed to agree, jokingly adding, “So, you make me feel like a young dad.”

Before Hamm and Osceola, 38, shared their baby news on the Emmys red carpet, the Sucker Punch actor shed light on the couple’s family plans a year after tying the knot in 2023.

“I hope it turns into kids,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024. “I will be the old dad, but so it goes. It could be a good thing. We’ll see.”

And while the new chapter may be frightening for Hamm, once upon a time he also found entering the next phase of his and Osceola’s relationship “really scary.”

“I didn’t look at marriage as a thing,” he explained. “Obviously, my parents were not married long, so I don’t have a model to look at and go, ‘Oh, this is how one finds happiness.'”

“I just knew at a certain point I wanted to be with this person,” he continued. “But when I proposed, I was terrified. I was like, ‘What am I doing?'”

But for Hamm, that feeling was only proof that their connection was “worthwhile.'”

And his gut-feeling was correct. After all, his wedding day was “perfect.”

“Everybody I love was there. It was so emotional, and it felt right,” he said. “I was like, ‘OK, I guess this is a thing.’ We did it [where they had shot the Mad Men finale], which was also amazing. Again, it was like a reset, a reboot, a reframe, a reimagining, nine years later, almost to the day. So, it’s been great.”
