New US Trailer for ‘Orfeo’ – Stylish Italian Spin on the Greek Tragedy

Orfeo Trailer

Oscilloscope Labs has revealed the new official US trailer for the film titled Orfeo, an Italian experimental cinematic spin on the classic opera L’Orfeo. This initially premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Fesitval last year and is finally getting a US release this year. A pianist falls for a mysterious woman who vanishes into a supernatural realm. Following her through a doorway, he encounters fantastical beings and must navigate a dreamlike afterlife to find her – guided by music and memories. In the classic Greek tragedy, a snake bites Eurydice on her wedding day, and her new husband, Orpheus, travels to the Underworld to bring her back. Virgilio Villoresi’s expressionistic adaptation of the tale is based on Dino Buzzati’s 1969 Poema a fumetti, which was actually Italy’s first graphic novel. The film is a modern reimagining with an aesthetic untethered from reality: a kaleidoscopic journey through time and place, reflecting on mystery, eroticism, melancholy, art, love, life, death. Starring Luca Vergoni, Giulia Maenza, Aomi Muyock, and Vinicio Marchioni. This one is for all the cinema nerds who love this kind of distinct, visually stylish experimental work. Enjoy.
