“I’m gonna make you cry for mercy”
Activision has released a new campaign trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, revealing that Mads Mikkelsen will appear in the game as a currently unnamed antagonist.
We only see him briefly at the end of trailer during which he’s conversing with series veteran John Price. We do, however, get a few chilling lines of dialogue from him:
“I’m gonna make you cry for mercy. When everything and everyone you care for dies in ways you can’t imagine. The things you’re gonna see.”
Price responds briefly, saying “Oh, I’ve seen a lot of things”. Pretty cool.
Honestly, this is probably one of the better campaign trailers we’ve seen from Call of Duty in quite some time. The series has fallen into a bit of a slump in recent years, spurred on by the dire reception to Modern Warfare 3 back in 2023. The campaign was heavily criticised for feeling rushed and shallow, but early signs indicate that the fourth entry will be a big improvement.
In fact, the recent open beta included a campaign level, and we thought it was pretty good overall, albeit understandably familiar. If the rest of the campaign keeps up the same level of quality, it could be pretty special.
Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch during the busiest month of the year on 26th October 2026.
