When Paige decided to go for the low hanging fruit and bring up Nikki Bella sleeping with John Cena as some sort of attack on her character, it sure felt like it was only a matter of time before Nikki went even lower and brought up Paige’s sexual history as well. Sure enough, she took to Instagram with a GIF of The New Day dancing and this caption:
All week I had to try hard to get over the things @saraya said to me last Friday on SmackDown. And you know what… this morning I thought to myself IT’S A NEW DAY YES IT IS and that made me feel a lot better! 😎🙃😏🤭😘
Paige didn’t take kindly to it, of course, and got openly vulgar on social media in response to it:
This was how they promoted their singles match on Friday Night SmackDown in Mexico City this evening. Which, hey, I don’t necessarily agree with going this route and think it’s largely ridiculous to use revenge porn in a storyline building to a TV match, but if you’re going to go for it then you’d think that would mean they would get plenty of time to flesh it out and have an all out war of a match.
You probably won’t be surprised to learn that wasn’t the case.
Yes, the Mexico City episodes of TV are stacked, with SmackDown alone getting four title matches. That means there is only so much time to go around. But why do all this now just to give them so little time for the actual physical part?
Paige came out hot, eager to get the action underway, and they battled for just over three minutes before Nikki cheated to score a pinfall victory:
The door is open to something more later, and let’s hope WWE actually bothers to give them the time to make it into something, especially if they’re going to ask them to use such personal issues as fodder for promos.
