Watch: Aaron Rodgers Details Future Family Plans With Wife Brittani After Retirement
Aaron Rodgers is pulling back the curtain on his past relationships.
Six years after the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback split from Danica Patrick, he shared insight into their complicated dynamic towards the end of their romance.
“She had just retired,” Rodgers said on the Sept. 10 episode of the Not Just Football with Cam Heyward podcast. “Then it was going a certain direction, obviously. There was no intimacy. There was nothing.”
He recalled the former NASCAR driver—whom he dated for around two years from 2018 to 2020—asking whether they should buy a home together, which he turned down.
“I said, ‘Yeah, that’s the way things are going,'” he recalled. “So, then we got counseling. And then what happened? Then Covid hit and we’re stuck together.”
By the time the pair split in July 2020, he added, “There was really nothing there.”
The NFL player—who shared in June 2025 that he married a woman named Brittani—asserted that Patrick’s recollection of their relationship is inaccurate.
“She tells a story that, ‘I was so blindsided by getting left by you, and he leaves a trail of blood around,'” Rodgers noted. “I’m like, what are you talking about? That is not what happened by any means.”
E! News has reached out to Patrick’s reps for comment and has not yet heard back.
Patrick previously shared insight into their relationship, describing their split as the most pain she’d ever experienced.

“When you live with somebody, it’s your whole life,” she said on the Sage Steele Show podcast in May 2025. “The nature of the relationship was emotionally abusive, so that wore me down to nothing. People could never imagine that I would lack any confidence or belief in the simple things about who I am. Everything was torn to bits. He leaves a trail of blood.”
Though the 44-year-old—who teased earlier this year that she is in a relationship—was devastated by the breakup, she doesn’t regret how she handled the aftermath.
“It’s all part of learning the lessons and becoming who you are,” she shared. “It’s not that you’re not going to go through hard times. You learn how to get through them quicker, learn how to get through them more peacefully. Learn how to also get into the f–king mud and get into the pain. You can’t ignore it.”
