Watch: Good Luck Charlie’s Mia Talerico Is a High School Senior & Even She’s “Starting to Feel Old” in New Photo
Mia Talerico doesn’t need luck when it comes to managing her career.
That’s because the 17-year-old—who became an entire generation’s little sister thanks to starring in Good Luck Charlie in the 2010s—has worked with her family to find a healthy rhythm between being a child star and a regular high school senior.
“I don’t find it really hard to balance this life,” Talerico told Entertainment Tonight in an interview shared Sept. 4. “My parents thought it was really important for me to have a childhood because a lot of child stars just continue working, or they just get burnt out.”
Indeed, the actress—who has starred in the YouTube comedy Mani and the upcoming movie American Summer after debuting on Disney—knows that a work-life balance is important to help her reach future goals.
“My parents didn’t want that to happen to me, and having an education is also really important in my family,” she continued. “I’m going to go to college. I’m going to get a degree in something, and that’s really important to me as well.”
As such, Talerico has already spent time soaking up her senior year, as seen in an Aug. 21 video of a scrapbooking session with friends to make sure none of her precious moments get lost once her school days are over.
As she put it, “Such a fun activity! I can’t wait to look back at this one day and see all the amazing memories i’ll make my senior year.”

One image that won’t make her student scrapbook? The meme of toddler-age Talerico shrugging that became a permanent fixture of the internet. Though she comes across the pop culture staple nearly every week, the teen confessed to the outlet that she doesn’t use it herself.
“My friends send it to me, I see it in my comments,” the sitcom star explained. “It’s funny to see all the different ways that people use it.”

As such, Talerico has appreciated how “awesome” it is to see her fans support her when she showed off her last first day of school.
“Last First Day!” she captioned the Aug. 19 milestone marker on Instagram. “Now I’m starting to feel old.”
