Watch: Alix Earle and Ashtin Earle Test Positive for BRCA2 After Mom’s Cancer Diagnosis
Alix Earle is speaking out about her health journey.
After she and her younger sister Ashtin Earle both tested positive for the BRCA2 gene mutation—which was documented on Netflix’s Earle Meets World—she detailed the experience of learning she had an increased cancer risk while cameras were rolling.
“It was hard,” Alix exclusively told E! News’ Erin Lim Rhodes at the Earle Meets World premiere Sept. 1. “Even the moments where I’m like, ‘I just want to go [be] alone and cry right now.’”
“When we were going through it, though, I didn’t really think much about the cameras,” she continued, “because we were so focused on each other and just being there and supporting each other.”
While it wasn’t easy, the 25-year-old—who shared her mom Alisa Maniaci’s breast cancer diagnosis in January—doesn’t regret giving the world an inside look at such an emotional moment.
“It’s a really powerful story,” she explained, “and I’m happy that we captured it.”
“It’s unfortunate when things happen in life that aren’t the best, especially with health, but we had cameras up for all of this,” Alix continued. “And that’s sort of the whole show, we just kept everything going as things were naturally happening in our lives.”
As she put it, “These few months happened to just be a wild ride. But I’m really excited for it to be out there.”
Indeed, Earle Meets World—streaming now on Netflix—gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at Alix’s family dynamic for the first time, including showing the moment Alix and Ashtin, 23, were told they both tested positive for the BRCA2 gene after deciding to take the test following their mom’s diagnosis.
While the trio became emotional after genetic counselor Pankti Doshi revealed the results, Alix expressed that she was grateful that she and her sister got answers—and more importantly, have their family to lean on for support.

“At least we’re in it together, and at least we know,” Alix told Ashtin. “And it’s such a privilege to be able to know and to have each other’s back.”
Alisa—who shares the girls with ex-husband Thomas “TJ” Earle—agreed with her daughter’s sentiment, assuring Alix and Ashtin, “Nothing’s happening to either of you, nor me. Listen, we’re all gonna be strong. We’re all gonna be fine. We all know that we can be on top of it now.”
