Dolphins Reportedly Send WR Tutu Atwell Back To Rams For RB Jarquez Hunter

The Los Angeles Rams are reuniting with a former wide receiver of theirs.

Tutu Atwell is going back to the Rams as the Miami Dolphins have agreed to trade him for running back Jarquez Hunter, ESPN reported Thursday. Atwell returns to Los Angeles five months after leaving the franchise in free agency.

Originally selected by the Rams in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Louisville, Atwell appeared in 64 games and hauled in five receiving touchdowns and ran in another over four seasons, operating as both a downfield threat and return specialist. Atwell was on the Rams Super Bowl LVI roster, but did not play the second half of the season due to a shoulder injury.

Atwell signed a one-year contract with his hometown Dolphins in March, but now rejoins head coach Sean McVay’s offense ahead of the regular season. He joins a crowded receiver room including the likes of Davante Adams and Puka Nakua as options through the air for reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford.

Hunter, a fourth-round draft choice by Los Angeles in 2025 out of Auburn, joins a Miami backfield seeking additional depth. During his rookie season in 2025, Hunter primarily contributed on special teams, appearing in five games.

The Rams open the season against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia on Sept. 10. The Dolphins will go against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sept. 13.
