Jim Cornette rips Baron Corbin, wonders if he’s ‘personal friends with Triple H’

On the most recent episode of the Jim Cornette Experience podcast, the legendary former wrestling manager offered a not-so-kind appraisal of Baron Corbin.

Cornette criticized Corbin’s presentation upon his return to WWE, and he wondered aloud if the wrestler is “personal friends” with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

His evaluation of Corbin came during a review of the August 21 edition of SmackDown. After praising both Trick Williams and Lil Yachty for their part in the segment with Corbin, Corny laid into the current WWE United States Champion and the overall angle.

”What in the world are they doing? Trick Williams is over. The people like him. He’s got oomph. He’s new. He’s fresh,” he said.

“Then Baron Corbin comes back looking the same god**** way he did, with the same god**** name, and the same off-putting, f***ing weird physique where he just makes big guys look small, but he doesn’t look big,” Cornette said. “He comes out on a goofy red motorcycle. Like, is anybody going to buy him as one of the Hell’s Angels? Even if he was, he doesn’t look like it.”

Corny continued: “There’s a total lack of charisma. He looks awkward when he does s**t and speaks.”

He then discussed how the segment set up Lil Yachty’s in-ring debut at Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6. The stipulation of the match is that if the rap star can last five minutes against Corbin, then Trick will earn a shot to regain U.S. Championship on the same night.

“This was not good for Trick, I don’t think, or Yachty, or the viewers,” Cornette said.

His podcast co-host, Brian Last, then interjected he feels like the feud with Corbin has “kind of stopped the momentum” for Williams.

“Is Baron Corbin personal friends with Triple H or some important person?” Cornette replied.

“I think Vince McMahon used to really like his segments, and that’s part of the reason why there were so many of his segments,” Last said.

“Well, I don’t know what what segments of Baron Corbin that Vince McMahon liked, but geez…” Corny said before changing the subject.

What do you think, Cagesiders? Do you agree with Cornette about Corbin? Was he too harsh? Let us know in the comments.
