Quick Making Of Teaser for Takashi Yamazaki’s ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’​

“I believe this team can create something greater than the last film. By doing things we’ve never done before and taking on new challenges.” Toho debuted a new behind-the-scenes promo teaser for Godzilla Minus Zero, the highly anticipated sequel to the global smash hit Godzilla Minus One from 2023. Director Takashi Yamazaki has been hard at work on this sequel ever since that first one roared its way to Oscar glory. This next one is releasing in theaters worldwide starting in November – all of this footage shows the director on set but doesn’t reveal any new hints or show too much yet. It’s 1949 just after the war, when the Americans were still all over Japan helping them rebuild. But they must also deal with Gojira. This story continues with the Shikishima family as they face an all-new calamity. With both Ryunosuke Kamiki as Koichi Shikishima and Minami Hamabe as Noriko Oishi returning in the same roles. Also starring Miou Tanaka, Sakura Ando, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Yuki Yamada, & Kuranosuke Sasaki. Having survived the previous deadly struggle alongside Shikishima, these beloved characters stand ready to face Godzilla once again. A few more glimpses beyond the first teaser trailer in April. I’m digging the way they’re hyping this up! And I definitely do think it might just end up better than Minus Zero. Only a few months to go now.

Godzilla Minus Zero picks up in 1949, two years after the tumultuous events of Godzilla Minus One, and continues the story of the Shikishima family as they face an all-new calamity. Ryunosuke Kamiki, the hero who faced Godzilla’s terror in Godzilla Minus One, returns as Koichi Shikishima, and is joined by Minami Hamabe as Noriko Oishi, who miraculously survived Godzilla’s first attack on Tokyo. Godzilla Minus Zero, also known as ゴジラ-0.0 in Japanese, is written and directed by the award-winning Japanese producer / filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki, director of the first Godzilla Minus One and many other movies including Space Battleship Yamato, The Fighter Pilot, Stand by Me Doraemon, Parasyte: Part 1 & 2, Destiny: The Tale of Kamakura, Lupin III: The First, Dragon Quest: Your Story, and Ghost Book.
