Watch: Sandra Bullock Debuts Shoulder Tattoo at ‘Practical Magic 2’ London Premiere
Sandra Bullock is conjuring up some new ink.
The Oscar winner debuted a small shoulder tattoo during the Aug. 26 premiere of Practical Magic 2 in London.
Clad in a strapless, leopard print dress from Givenchy, Bullock bared the delicate design—the letters “L” and “B” intertwined with an exponent of two—while walking the red carpet with costars Nicole Kidman, Joey King and Maisie Williams.
Bullock has not publicly spoken out about her tattoo, though the letters appear to be a nod to the initials of her son Louis, 16, daughter Laila, 12, and late partner Bryan Randall, who died in 2023 at 57 after a three-year battle with ALS.
Indeed, Bullock’s kids were close with the photographer. As she put it in a recent episode of the SmartLess podcast, Laila saw Randall as “a father figure.”
“Louis handled it very differently than Laila,” Bullock shared of how her children—who she adopted in 2010 and 2015, respectively—navigated Randall’s declining health. “About two years before Bryan passed, he saw it was a dynamic that wasn’t healthy for him to be around.”
“He chose to just be there and support and help me on the things that were easy for [him],” she continued. “But he smartly disengaged himself and said, ‘This is a safer space for me to sit.’ And I said, ‘Absolutely. You go, I got this.'”
Meanwhile, Bullock said she and Laila became “more bonded until about six months out” from Randall’s death.
“Then she says, ‘Can you please say no when they call me over to go visit?’” the Miss Congeniality actress recalled. “And I said, ‘Absolutely, but if you do wanna go visit, I will come with you and I will be right there. And if you tap out, I am right there.'”

And Bullock, who first met Randall in 2015 when he was hired as the photographer for Louis’ fifth birthday party, takes her parenting duties to heart. In fact, she has another tattoo—a barbed wire with a butterfly on it—paying tribute to a woman who she said “helped me with insight to my daughter” while doing research for her role in 2021’s The Unforgivable.
“She, too, went through the foster care system and there was something that was similar and she said, ‘Oh, my god, that happened to me. That’s who I was,’” Bullock told Extra at the time. “I went there to get her story, and I left there being a better parent because of the gift that she gave me.”
