Tim Curry, the “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” “It” and “Annie” actor, has died. He was 80.
He passed away Tuesday night, according to TMZ, 14 years after suffering a major stroke that left him partially paralyzed.
Los Angeles Fire Department exclusively told Page Six they had a call to Curry’s home in North Hollywood, California at 10:42 p.m. for a medical event. They arrived to a deceased male on the scene.
Page Six has reached out to Curry’s reps for comment.
Curry’s major health issues began in 2012, when he suffered a stroke that left him in a wheelchair with paralysis.
The incident forced Curry to move onto voice work and step away from on-screen acting for 14 years until 2024’s “Stream.”
In his 2025 memoir “Vagabond,” Curry recalled that he was having a massage at the time of his stroke. He said while he felt “a little out of sorts” he didn’t believe that he required medical attention — but his massage therapist “ignored” him and called 911.
Curry subsequently underwent emergency brain surgery, during which his “skull was smashed in” to save his life.
At a 50th anniversary “Rocky Horror Picture Show” screening in Los Angeles in Sept. 2025, Curry gave an update on his health, telling the audience he “still can’t walk.”
“I won’t be singing and I won’t be dancing very soon,” he shared. “I still have real problems with my left leg.”
Curry wrote on his book, “It turned out that my brain was inflamed enough, or filled with enough blood that bone from my skull had to be removed and implanted into my abdomen to keep my brain, and me, alive,” he wrote. “Thankfully the operation was successful (which was by no means guaranteed).”
He said that after spending months in the hospital, he entered a rehab center where he began exercises to “retrieve my ability to speak clearly, to work on smiling and facial expressions, and to try using my hand and adapting to my new normal.”
“Being unable to string together and clearly deliver a sentence was absolute misery for somebody who values words and conversation as much as I do,” he added.
