The current WWE champion isn’t wrestling enough.
That’s what he said, anyway, in a newly released vlog from WWE on his recent sojourn to NXT for a live event in Petersburg, Virginia:
“There’s a very selfish motivation for me being here. I want to stay ready. Yes, I’m the champion. Yes, I wrestle on television. But to me, I don’t wrestle often enough. I need more reps. I think I’m better the more often I wrestle. There is an element of giving back though, obviously. I have great respect for this business, and I’m just following in the footsteps of the people who came before me. Hopefully somebody watches and learns and observes from me and they can pay it forward when they have the opportunity to do so.”
WWE drastically cut back on its house show schedule in recent years, though they added more dates for the end of this year. There’s something funny about Punk wanting to wrestle more, considering how things were for him at the end of his last run, but perhaps that speaks to just how much things truly have changed for the company, and I mean that in a good way.
He clearly seems to think things are going well.
What’s more, he said he would be back.
