Time for everyone’s favorite wrestling game, Work or Shoot?
This round focuses on the injury of Nigel McGuinness. There has been chatter on the internet that Nigel’s injury is pure kayfabe. That’s where we ask the question to you. Do you think Nigel’s injury is fake or real. Work or shoot?
I’m leaning toward shoot. I think the injury is real for the main reason that it is an unnecessary storyline crutch. The idea is Nigel as the underdog beating the odds to advance to the final at All In in Wembley Stadium. Nigel is already an underdog, so why stack the deck against him even more with a fake injury angle? It makes the matches worse, because he was to wrestle injured. It makes the opponents look worse, because they can’t beat a semi-retired injured man. If Nigel advances to All In against Jon Moxley, that’s a match I want to see full steam ahead with each man at their best. I don’t want the baked in excuse of Nigel being injured. Maybe I’m giving AEW booking too much credit, but I can’t believe they would think a fake injury is a great idea.
