Pulp: What Do You Do for an Encore? Trailer

“Songs contain pockets of energy from your past life which is released when you perform them again. It’s real time travel.” Mubi has unveiled the main official trailer for the music biopic documentary titled Pulp: What Do You Do for an Encore?, profiling the iconic band known as Pulp. Last year they released a new reunion album, titled More, and toured the world playing arenas and stages everywhere. This doc covers that experience and follows them around on the road, as they reconnect with fans worldwide. It’s also a look back at the band (formed in Sheffield, UK in 1978) and all they’ve been through over the years. Charting the Sheffield band’s extraordinary journey from obscurity to cultural touchstone. Fusing amazing footage from Pulp’s biggest ever arena show with four decades of colourful, never-seen-before archival material. Directed by filmmaker Garth Jennings and narrated by legendary frontman Jarvis Cocker. This looks like a blast! A very cosmic and poetic and entertaining experience – lead by Jarvis as he takes us in & out of Pulp’s history.

Directed by their longtime collaborator Garth Jennings, the feature combines footage from their arena tour behind last year’s reunion album, More, with archival film tracing the band’s rise from tenacious Sheffield also-rans to Britpop darlings.” Pulp: What Do You Do for an Encore? is a new documentary directed by British filmmaker Garth Jennings, diretor of Son of Rambow, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and both Sing & Sing 2 previously, plus other shorts. Produced by Paul Dugdale, Danny Gabai, Octavia Peissel, Amy Rattray. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know.
