Toy Story 5 is now available to rent or purchase digitally from PVOD platforms like Prime Video.
The move to digital comes a particularly solid 60 days after the movie’s initial release in theaters. Over the course of that run, Toy Story 5 grossed over $1.1 billion globally, more than four times its reported budget of $250 million.
Clint Gage’s review for IGN gives some credit to the latest Pixar sequel, saying “Toy Story 5, like all its main characters, eventually figures out why it exists in the first place.” If you didn’t manage to make the trek out to the theaters for this one, here’s how you can watch it online for a pretty darn reasonable price.
Toy Story 5 Now Available to Watch at Home
Toy Story 5 is now available to rent for $5.99, which gives you access to the movie for 48 hours from the time you hit play, or purchase digitally for $29.99.
I cover a lot of digital releases, and this is by far the cheapest digital renting price I’ve ever seen for a new release. Other recent movies, like Minions & Monsters and even fellow Disney property Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, are asking you to drop $20 minimum.
If you do decide to go for the full purchase, you’ll get access to a spread of digital extras. Prime Video is also specifically offering discounted digital bundles of the Pixar franchise, including a bundle of all five Toy Story movies for $69.99, down from $109.95.
The digital release date was first announced last week alongside our first look at the movie’s DVD release. We now know the movie will be getting a particularly clean limited-edition 4K steelbook in addition to a standard DVD and Blu-ray. The physical release will also include a new collected set of all five Toy Story movies. While I’ve yet to find any preorder listings online, all of those editions have a release date of September 22.
