Can you shadow drop in zero-G?
Adding to Switch 2’s ever-growing list of “huh, neat!” ports, Rockfish Games has this week announced Everspace 2: Galactic Edition, and it’s available right now.
After launching on PC back in 2023 (where it pulled in an impressive 81 Metascore), this one arrived as a surprise Switch 2 shadow drop yesterday, compiling the base game and all of its DLC for £39.99 / $49.99.
For those who missed this one at launch, Everspace 2 is a spaceship shooter that bundles in RPG mechanics, puzzles, and a healthy dose of side content. Heck, throwing in the bonus missions and customisation options from the DLC packs takes this one’s playtime over the 50-hour mark, which is nothing to be sniffed at!
Here’s a brief rundown of everything included in the Galactic Edition and a handful of screens from Rockfish:
EVERSPACE 2
Experience a 30 hour adventure in this fast-paced single-player spaceship shooter with exploration in space and on planets, tons of loot, RPG elements, mining, and crafting. Explore an exciting sci-fi story set in a vivid, handcrafted open world full of secrets, puzzles, and perils.EVERSPACE 2: Titans
The Dreadnought and Leviathan have arrived in Cluster 34. Collect new weapon and gear sets by tackling massive repeatable challenges. Discover two exciting storylines alongside a cast of new and returning characters!EVERSPACE 2: Wrath of the Ancients
The Ancients have awakened! Their wrath has laid waste to human settlements in Cluster 34, and the path of destruction leads to the Okkar Homeworlds. Take flight in this massive expansion containing a post-game storyline, exciting side quests, four new star systems, new weapons and gear, and the Wraith starfighter.EVERSPACE 2: Supporter Pack
The EVERSPACE 2 Supporter Pack opens up new cosmetic options for series megafans to customize ships. Contains more than 50 customizable additions including adjustable ship skins, decals, engine and thruster effects, and cybernetic glow lighting options.
Now, the Switch 2 version is capped at 30fps, but the promise of portability goes a long way with a space adventure like this.
We had a great time with the game’s very different predecessor on Switch back in 2018, and Rockfish has teased that it’s “not done telling stories in the EVERSPACE universe or creating awesome action-packed space adventures,” so we can’t imagine this is the last we’ll see of the series.
