Watch: A Live Stunt Show Viral Marketing Promo for ‘Mutiny’ in NYC​

Push the button!! Lionsgate debuted a video for a recent viral marketing stunt they setup in New York City to promote the action movie Mutiny (watch the trailer). This is pretty cool! I dig these on-location promos. Mutiny smashes into theaters this August – made by the same action director as Plane. After his billionaire industrialist boss is murdered in front of him, Cole Reed is set up to take the fall for the crime – leaving him on the run as he works to uncover an international conspiracy. Most of the big action takes place on a cargo ship which Statham has invaded. Not only does he want vengeance, he’s going to rescue a bunch of people. Starring Jason Statham as Cole Reed, with Annabelle Wallis, Jason Wong as Taran, Roland Møller, Arnas Fedaravicius, Adrian Lester. Lionsgate setup a big red button near the USS Intrepid Museum in NYC. When someone pressed it, a bunch of stunt actors would jump into action and fight each other there for ~5 minutes right in front of them. Awesome! Usually these gimmicks are cringe or boring, but props on actually getting a live stunt show action team to perform. Glad they taped it for us to watch! Enjoy the video.

Cole Reed (starring Jason Statham) was in the Special Forces and served as a New York police officer in a former life. Now working private security, Reed is framed for murdering his Thai billionaire friend, Tibu, and he comes across an international conspiracy in his search for the true killer. Mutiny is directed by French genre filmmaker Jean-François Richet, director of the movies Ma 6-T va crack-er, De l’amour, Assault on Precinct 13 (the 2005 remake), Mesrine: Killer Instinct, Mesrine: Public Enemy No. 1, One Wild Moment, Blood Father, The Emperor of Paris, and Plane previously. The screenplay is written by J.P. Davis & Lindsay Michel. Produced by Jason Statham & Marc Butan. Filmed in the UK including at Canary Wharf and also in Malta throughout late 2024.
