The original Metroid is 40 years old – can you believe it? In addition to celebrating the game and series at large, I thought I’d look ahead at what potentially lies in store with ‘Metroid 6‘.

Beyond numbered nods in their introductions (or reveal trailers), the series has forgone numerical titles outside of the Prime series and Metroid II for Game Boy, but a Metroid 6 would essentially be a sequel to 2021’s Metroid Dreadthe series best-selling entry — continuing a story that began all the way back in 1986.

Given what an excellent job developer MercurySteam did with Dread, you might wonder what anyone could possibly want from another entry, but I have a few ideas. So let’s go through them here together. And if you have thoughts of your own, then make it known with a comment in the usual place.
