USA Wrestling is pleased to announce the hiring of Scott Honecker as its Educational Programs and Development Manager. Honecker brings nearly two decades of coaching and state service experience to the USA Wrestling staff.
“USA Wrestling has been a driving force in my life since I first discovered the sport,” said Honecker. “I couldn’t be more excited to strengthen relationships throughout the wrestling community in this new role. The ability to serve our membership while focusing professionally on the international styles of wrestling is the kind of opportunity dreams are made of. I am grateful for the outstanding leaders and amazing colleagues at USA Wrestling who have helped me get up and running, and I’m excited to contribute to the organization’s continued success.”
Honecker begins his role at the USA Wrestling national office after one year as director of Tiger Den Wrestling Club, where he organized and increased participation by Fort Hays State University athletes in USA Wrestling events. He also developed athletes and served as a conduit between men’s and women’s collegiate wrestling programs.
Before Tiger Den Wrestling Club, he spent over a decade as head coach at Williams College. After one year as the interim head coach of the Williams College wrestling program (2012-13), the interim tag was removed, and Honecker was named the official head wrestling coach, a role he held for the next 12 years. After being named the 2013 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Rookie Head Coach of the Year, Honecker set program records at Williams College for NCAA All-Americans, NCAA Championship qualifiers, NWCA Scholar All-Americans and career dual meet victories.
“I’ve known Scott the better part of two decades with his coaching with our state associations in North Carolina and Connecticut, and while I was impressed with him in those roles, he’s been even better since joining us in Colorado Springs,” said USA Wrestling Director of State Services Tony Black. “Scott’s success as a club, high school and college coach will allow him to connect with basically all of our Wrestling Leaders, as he’ll be able to relate to them and assist where they are in their wrestling journey.”
Honecker has been a pillar of the USA Wrestling coaching community and was named a Greco-Roman team coach for the 2025 U20 World Championships. More recently, he served as team leader for the U.S. at the U23 and U15 Pan American Championships, where the U.S. swept the team titles in all three Olympic disciplines.
As a USA Wrestling leader, he has served on the executive boards of Connecticut and North Carolina. In Connecticut, he served as the National Teams director. In North Carolina, he was named the 2009 and 2010 North Carolina Coach of the Year and the 2010 USA Wrestling Southeast Region Coach of the Year.
